Did you know there are more than 450 million Linkedin members worldwide? That is a huge audience for business owners to be able to get in front of, so it’s important that your profile stands out. Below are 5 tips on how to make your Linkedin profile stand out:
Tip #1: Use Keywords
When setting up or revamping your Linkedin profile it’s a good idea to incorporate keywords throughout your profile, including in your headline, summary and work experience sections.
Tip #2: Add Multimedia
Adding multimedia to your profile is a great idea because it shows prospective customers what you are able to do. Also, make sure your videos are short and straight to the point. Usually 1 – 2 minutes is best.
Tip #3: Invite your Community to Engage with You and Share Your Content
Just setting up your profile isn’t enough, you need to make sure that you regularly engage with your network. ‘Like’ other people’s posts, share status updates and industry information and help connections when you can by sharing resources or job leads, and join a few select groups that you will be able to participate in at least weekly.
Tip #4: Reorder the Information on Your Page
Linkedin allows you to reorder a lot of sections on your profile, which allows you to highlight the important and relevant aspects of your background.
If you are interested in doing this, just go to “Edit Profile,” then hover your mouse over the section you want to move. Next, click and drag the vertical arrows in the top-right corner of the section, dropping the section at the place on your page where you’d like it to appear.
Tip #5: Customize Your URL
Make your profile more personal by customizing your URL. To achieve this, select “Edit Profile,” then underneath your profile picture, click the “settings” icon next to your current URL. You’ll then be taken to your public profile. On the top right of the page, click the “edit” icon next to your URL, then customize the last part of your URL (after http://www.linkedin.com/in/) so that it contains your name. Ensure to include this information on all of your marketing materials (like brochures, flyers, business cards, email signature, etc.).
